Scope and Contents Mr. R. Harrison has published some extracts of letters received from John Robinson, with his father's permission; reports that nothing will be done immediately in the improvement of the James River, but that there are opportunities for engineers on "internal improvements" elsewhere; suggestion of Moncure Robinson that a railroad be built from headwaters of the James River to the Kanawha River has been much discussed; "Your account of the Steam Waggons towing 2 or 3 others on the railways of England, & heavily loaded, seems quite fascinating to the friends of internal improvement"; news of panic in New York as a result of cotton speculations.
