Scope and Contents Middlemarch in Spring, (formerly titled " Middlemarch, A Love Story" and "A Perfect Woman: Six Scenes from Middlemarch") is a chamber opera in two acts based on the George Eliot, with libretto created by Claudia Stevens and music by Allen Shearer. Its premiere of four performances took place at Z Space (formerly Theater Artaud) in San Francisco, California, March 19-22, 2015, presented by Composers, Inc. This series includes a piano-vocal score, libretto, program, writings about the opera by Claudia Stevens, text of an interview with Claudia Stevens, reviews, a poster that is housed with Sub-Series 18 (Assorted Miscellaneous Works), and a DVD of a fall 2011 performance in Berkeley that can be found in Series 4 of the Audiovisual components of this collection.
