WWII Honorable Service Lapel Button, 1939-1946

Scope and Contents

1-lapel pin made of gilt brass that features the depiction of an eagle with its wings spread out in the middle of a circle. The bottom of the circle has five stripes. The lapel pin was awarded by the Department of Defense to those U.S. Military Servicemen who had been honorably discharged during World War II. The pin belonged to Armand J. Galfo, U.S. Air Force Reserves officer and Assistant Dean of the School of Education at the College of William and Mary between 1965 and 1966. The pin measures approximately 0.4375 in. (length) x 0.625in.(width) and is in good condition. The part of the pin that is used to affix it to the lapel of a shirt or uniform is missing. Located in University Archives Artifact Collection, UA Metals. UA 2007.063.18
