Scope and Contents

5-50 Yugoslavian Dinara. The bills are blue and feature a detail from one of Ivan Meštrovic's sculptures on the front. Ivan Meštrovic was a famous Croatian sculptor. The number "50" is also printed on the front to the right. The number "50" is also featured on the back of the bills in the center within a circle with people-figures holding hands. According to the U.S. Department of the Treasury Treasury Reporting Rates as of March 31, 1981, 1 Yugoslavian Dinar was equal to $20.60. The bank notes belonged to Armand J. Galfo, U.S. Air Force Reserves officer and Assistant Dean of the School of Education at the College of William and Mary between 1965 and 1966. The bills measure approximately 5.25in. (length) x 2.5in. (width) and are in fair to poor condition. All the bills have dirt stains on them and have various tears along their edges. Bill a is in fair condition with only its top right and left corners bent and creases along the depiction of the Meštrovic relief and in the center. Bill b is in poor condition and has its top left and bottom right corners bent as well as a diagonal crease at the top left side and in the center and right side of the bill. There are also red stains on the back of bill b on the right. Bill c is in poor condition and its top and bottom left corners are completely folded. There is also an approximately 1.25in. stain in the center of the back of the bill starting at the bottom of the bill and ending at the number "50." Bill d is in poor condition and its top left corner is completely folded. There are also small red stains on the top and bottom edge of the bill on the back. Finally, bill e is in poor condition with all of its corners folded (left corners folded back and right corners folded over the front).
