Visited Peggy, who said she is delighted that you and I are marrying. June 16, 1882 to ‘mama’ F.C. Brown, Richmond, KY Am at the college … have had a quiet time. Saw doctor Witherspoon, who had preached at the baccalaureate Sunday at CU. Thompson assures me of a way to Wooster in October – assume he will bear expense. June 21, 1882 J. Thompson Brown to fiancé Cassie Dallas Tucker Ivy Cliff, Va. Glad you’re trying to like Mag. She talks a log, but is a very staunch friend. Last week I got a light suit which I will bring with me. Sorry your ring is too large, but glad you got a guard ring. I’m glad the gaiety will be over when I get to Wooster and Dallas’, as I’ll get to see more of you.
