Diary begins on June 15, 1930 when the writer describes her trip to Greenwood Lake with an eighth grade class and her country automobile ride with friends.  They drive past New Milford and Hamburg to Wheatsworth Cereal Company and the Old Edison Mines.  Writer calls it “good time book.”

She visits Utica, Cautauqua (Chautauqua), and Jamestown, New York and Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

On a June 1931 trip to Jamestown, New York, she befriends Miss Schlepp, a teacher from Buena Vista, Virginia.

Summarizes presentations given by Mrs. Grace Morrison Poole, Princess Chinquilla of the South Cheyenne tribe, Dr. John E. Roberts the pastor of the Chautanqua Community Church, Mrs. Lisle Campbell of St. Louis, Dr. J. Ernest James from London, Branson Ste Cou of Orange,  New Jersey, Mrs. Victoria Booth Demarest, Dr. Herbert Wellett, Dr. Buck of Drew University, Rear Admiral Evelyn Byrd, Mrs. Orrin Judd, Miss Woodbury and others.  Many of these presentations are given in the Chautaugua Amphitheater. 

Describes her conversations and activities while attending Summer School at Chautauqua.  Tells of her experiences, the courses she takes and the teachers, plus gives her opinion of the school.  She says, “two unique celebrations at Chautauqua are “Old First Night” and “Recognition Day.”
