Scope and Contents

Dakin's promotion to Second Lieutenant in the 3rd regiment of Artillery is signed by President Andrew Johnson and Edwin M. Stanton, Secretary of War. The Special Orders No. 190 conveys the message that Lieutenant George K. Dakin, 3rd U.S. Artillery is assigned to Light Battery "E" of that regiment. Signed by Assistant Adjutant General E.D. Townsend.
