Scope and Contents

1 August 1794. Promissory note signed by Richard Bland Lee, n.p., stating his intention to pay $1020.00 to Benj[amin] Stoddert for "accommodation of the drawer to take up his paper"; also mentions Markham Waring of George Town [sic], and that the note is negotiable at the Bank of Columbia. 16 Jan[uar]y 1795. Note to pay Ben[jamin] Stoddert $1050.00, by Richard Bland Lee, Philadelphia, [Pa.]. 10 September 1812. Indenture made by Henry Lee, Jun[io]r of Stratford, Westmoreland Co., Virginia, and Richard Bland Lee of Fairfax Co., Virginia, transferring the mortgage of land in Westmoreland Co. along the Potomac River called Cabbin Point, from Bushrod Washington to John C. Scott, also of Fairfax Co.
