The following excerpts were provided by the seller and have not been verified. "1937 “January 3rd, Nothing happened. Got new baton today. I certainly wish my legs were smaller.” “February 25, Dear Diary. Went to school. Was reminded of my younger days. The boys who did, Merle Beams and Clair Vowles, two of my younger “Heart Flutters”. Oh boy.” “March 12th, Dear Diary. Went to school. The whole 7th grade cleaned up the school grounds. Guess I will never forget when the boys kissed me.” 1938 “February 9th, Colfax beat Pullman 23 to 19. Went skating at Pullman. Lorren Gordon, cute kid from Pullman, has a very nice car. Julia stayed all night with me. I bet I see more of Lorren.” “February 16th, Put last show of Hi Jinks on. It went off pretty good. Dropped baton twice. Had fun skating. Went to dance afterwards. Wow. Julia stayed with me. Russell, Willis and Ace brought us home in car.” 1940 “April 8th, Drove car followed Bill and a cute guy about 23, dark. Wow. Bill showed me how to take corners in car. I still don’t get it.” “April 29th, Don Huet and Floyd Daves, Pullman, came down and went to show with Shirley Jean Mower and me. I had car. At first I thought we were out of gas but the car just got clogged. Got my personality letters today. Personal appearance, snobbish, posture, sportsmanship, emotions, temper, were main things.” “May 4th, Dear Diary, Shirley, Julie and I went for a ride with Don Schmick., Del Ralph Cocking. Julie was in back with don and I was with Del. We were kind of crowded so they put their arms around us. Gee! I’m a bad girl. Julie is staying all night with me….” “May 9th, Babe was mad because I didn’t kiss him Sat. but if that’s the kind of guy he is I don’t want him to like me anyway. June, Del and I played tunes tonight.” “May 25th, Julie and I went to P. Stayed all night with Marian. We went on blind dates. Del Jentry, Senior, from 350 miles from here, went with Julie. He was cute and a good dancer but--Johnnie Metz, a freshman in college, went with me. He surely was swell. He came from Spokane and Twin Lakes. I surely did have fun. Went to fraternity dance. HTO house.” “June 2nd, Went out to Julie’s picnic. Del Lorren Logsdon took Julie and I shooting. I shot biggest shot gun made. Shirley, Harry, George and I played pool and ping pong. I lead Bill Lawson in a chase in our car. It certainly was easy to loose him.” “June 20th, Dad and mom had a row over whose money was to buy the house. Dad stayed in a hotel tonight. It certainly was hot today. I bowled a 53 tonight. I guess I just can’t bowl.” “July 4th, Played tennis this morning with Babe, Fred and Marian. I asked Babe up to the lake but he has already promised some one else he would go with them.” “July 19th, It rained tonight. I went swimming. Babe and I crashed the show but it cost us 25 cents. Boy tonight is the closest I have ever come to being kissed. Wow!!!” “August 7th, I didn’t go skating with Shirley. I went to Fred Harple’s party with Ace Meyers. They danced with the light out some of the time but all we did was dance. I was the first to leave (12:00). Ace didn’t want to go but we did.” “August 20th, Shirley and dad came up this morn. We went to Collier’s picnic at Houser Lake. There were a lot of cute boys there. Wow! It’s two bad Marian didn’t come. I liked a dark kid there. He surely is cute. We went swimming at Hammon’s pool and came to Colfax.” “September 29th, It was Brose’s and my turn to have social at league. We served ginger bread and milk. Russ and Dick Maxwell, Ace, Babe, came tonight. Babe and I got a coke. We stood at the bottom of the steps and talked calmly in a round about way about to kiss.”
