Gifford at Burlington Hotel to “Bev” [Nathaniel Beverley Tucker 1820-1890]. Writer has left for America. “…not money enough, that is profit enough in the matter to induce Capitalists to run not only the risk of the blockade, but also the whole of their…” “I have given authority to Mr. …to act for us…” Discussion of the war in America and how it will affect their finances, and mention of the Queen and an English blockade.
