First Night Gavel

Scope and Contents

A sound block and gavel engraved with "First Night Williamsburg" and a candle design. The other side of the gavel reads " Presented by Bette Crossen." The set is in a green box with a clear plastic top that has writing on it in gold colored lettering. The top reads "Director's Gavel Set, with Sound Block and Engraving Band." There is a sticker on the plastic top with the address and phone number for Fleming's Engraving and Awards Inc.

G. Louis Carner Papers

This collection includes logbooks, pilot's handbooks, correspondence and papers related to William & Mary's Flight Club as well as the National Aeronautic Association and a pair of flight goggles that belonged to G. Louis Carner. The logbook provides information about each flight, including date, make of the plane, duration, destination, and any comments on the trip.

Iva Rawles Papers

The collection includes Rawles' 1922-1923 student handbook within which are handwritten notes and her class schedule, a panoramic photograph of the student body for 1922-1923, and her 1923 Colonial Echo, which she used as a scrapbook.  The scrapbook includes images of women students at W&M.  There is also an unidentified artifact which features the names of players and games of the 1922-1923 varsity football team.
