David Griffith Land Grant
Land grant 1743 March 30, for 400 acres of land in Goochland County, Va. issued to David Griffith. Condition of patent: for every 50 acres of land, Griffith is to pay one shilling yearly and also cultivate and improve 3 acres out of every 50 acres within 3 years. Two page land grant issued to Thomas Read on 18 September 1782. This land is recorded as number 14,340 and is for 740 acres in Charlotte County, Virginia. Survey of the property as outlined in the grant was completed on 18 January 1793. The signature on the deed, issued by the Governor of the Commonwealth, Henry Lee, is from William Price, Esq. and is dated Augist 20, 1794.

Edward Watts Letter to Henry Buford
