Account book, 1852-1856, of an unknown merchant, of Amelia County, Va. which includes account, 1872-1873; several reports of William R. Dunnavant, county superintendent of roads and bridges; copies of deeds, 1899-1903; a blueprint of a steel truss bridge; and loose papers.

An appraisal of property conducted on January 23, 1936 by the Appraisal Committee of the Virginia Real Estate Association. The property became a part of Seashore State Park, which is now First Landing State Park. This document contains photographs of the land, along with a map of the property.

Indenture between Henry Banks, Richmond, Virginia (heir of John Banks) and Ichabod Burnet, late of Charleston, South Carolina with Nathaniel Greene of Charleston for land sold by John  McQueen of Charleston for lots in Brunswick, Georgia.  Signed by Henry Banks. Notarized by Archibald Blair, Notary Public in Richmond, Virginia and John Harvie, Mayor of Richmond. January 1786.  Includes a paper seal and partial red wax seal.

This item is a November 1933 plat map of Barrett's Ferry, a property along the James River. The land was the property of G.T. Brooks.

This collection contains a list of lots in the first district of Virginia with their improvements, dwelling houses, and enslaved persons. The lots were owned by Joseph Bell and Andrew Kincannon, Jr. They were located at Cripple Creek, Wythe County, Virginia, on the south side of Lick Mountain and the north side of Iron Mountain. Included in the list are iron furnaces, forges, houses, barns, and fourteen enslaved men valued at $5,600.

Receipt, 1770, signed by Carter Braxton for land sold belonging to the estate of George Carter.

Papers, 1801-1860, of the Britt family of Pasquotank County, North Carolina. Includes documents, deeds, accounts, and bills of sale for slaves and references to John Cartwright.

First folder contains an admission ticket to the "La Fayette Ball Room" with a notation on the reverse, "card of invitation to the ball ... to be given for LaFayette at Yorktown...did not take place until afterwords and at Williamsburg."  Signature illegible.

Indenture, 4 April 1827, made between James P. Bull, Towanda, Pennsylvania and Gould Seymour, Pike, Bradford County, Pennsylvania for 101 acres of land in Bradford County.

700 acre Ohio land grant to Captain John Winston, after serving 3 years in the U.S. Army, Virginia Line. Signed by Thomas Jefferson, President of the United States, James Madison, Secretary of State, and Henry Dearborn, Secretary of War.

According to an article in the Nov. 1, 1944 issue of The Flat Hat, the grant was written for John W. Price, William & Mary Class of 1823. The surname Price, however, does not appear on the document.

Papers, 1834-1861, of Carter Henry Harrison of Elkora, Cumberland County, Virginia. Includes letters about his father, Carter Henry Harrison, Sr., and his mother, Janetta Harrison, as well as his wife, Alice Harrison. Letters typically deal with the finances of Elkora and then with the preparations and operations of the Civil War.

Two letters from Thomas H. Daniel, Prince George, Virginia to Dr. Thomas P. Atkinson, Danville, Virginia, about selling Atkinson's land in Prince George. Daniel also mentions a House of Delegates resolution to  reapportion representatives throughout Virginia. 1848 and 1849.

Originals and copies of papers, 1804-1928, of the Davidson family of Frederick County, Va. Includes correspondence from Samuel Davidson in Sacramento, California to his father, William Davidson and brother David Davidson describing California in the Gold Rush era. The papers also include a deed, 5 April 1773, signed by Thomas Lord Fairfax to Thomas Talbot for land in Frederick County, Va. and genealogical material concerning the Davidson family.

Surveying notes, 1819-1821, and plats made by Asa Dupuy on a tract of land on Briery Creek, Prince Edward County, Virginiaa.] which contains 1456 acres.  Some of the sellers and buyers are Jno. Carter, Doc Wilson, Thos. T. Scott, Thos. B. Biggers, Jno. Purnall, Ro. A. Smith, Elbert F. Redd, John P. Womack, Jno. Flournoy, William Scott and John Holt.

Deed, 31 January 1831, from Silas Hathaway of St. Albans, Vermont  to Joseph White, New York, New York conveying land in Wythe County, Virginia.  Fragile.

Notebook of typescript of abstracts of titles, 1852-1904, kept by Joseph T . McAllister, lawyer of Warm Springs, Virginiaa. The titles are to land in Bath County, Virginia and include supporting documents and surveys, descriptions of maps, copies of correspondence, list of assessed lands in various districts of Bath County (1904), separated by race; and a broadside, circa. 1904, for the sale of a Bath County farm.

Letters typicall acknoweldge payment received from a number of different sources, including people in Edinburgh, London, and the United States. The letters seem to typically be about the purchase, sale, and rental of property.
