Moore and Kerlin Store Records

Scope and Contents Records circa 1820-1920 of a store in Shenandoah County, Virginia near Forestville run by the Moore and Kerlin families.  This store consisted of a general merchandise store, a blacksmith shop, post office that ran 1841-1859, and a mill.  Earlier ledgers suggest that the store was started by Adam Miller and later sold to the Moore family.  The Moore and Kerlin families are connected through marriage.  Records include store accounts of purchases and credits, receipts, broadsides, and...

Scope and Contents Ledger kept in Lexington, Va. Mainly concerns selling of wood, beef, and corn. The first few pages were used to divide property of a deceased person. The book includes a folder of loose papers, ca. 1825, which includes accounts, correspondence, and prescriptions.

Peninsula Bank was also known as Peninsula Bank and Trust, then later became Crestar Bank and Crestar became SunTrust Bank.

Mss. Acc. 1994.92 has been added to this collection.  Two newspaper articles, undated, on the history of the Peninsula Bank.
