Miles Wills Wynne Papers

Scope and Contents This collection contains documents related to Wynway Hall and other construction projects done by Miles Wills Wynne.  Included are the floor plans drawn by Wynne for 331, 333, and 501 Richmond Road, supply catalogs, invoices for materials and labor for Wynway Hall, utility and property tax receipts, rental logbooks and reservation books, and work journals for various construction projects. The collection also includes ephemera and broadsides.

Scope and Contents Williamsburg, Virginia items given by Will Molineux, mostly via the Williamsburg Historic Records Association.  Some items are personal papers (newspaper articles, etc.) of Will Molineux.  The photograph collection covers the entire Williamsburg area, including James City County and York County.  Subjects include people, places, buildings, events, Colonial Williamsburg, William and Mary and many more.

Scope and Contents Papers, 1881-1937 and n.d., relating to the history of Williamsburg, Jamestown, and Yorktown, Va. collected by members of the Morecock family of Williamsburg, Va. Includes photographs, pamphlets, Christmas cards, postcards, and wood-cut prints depicting the Powder Magazine, Bruton Parish Church, the Courthouse of 1770, the Yorktown Monument, the church tower at Jamestown as well as souvenirs of the Yorktown Centennial, 1881 and the Jamestown Exposition, 1907.

Scope and Contents Record, 1928-1932, entitled "Physicians Record of Prescriptions" kept by Nelson F. McNorton which contains a record of whiskey dispensed for medicinal purposes at Yorktown, Williamsburg, Richmond, and other locations in Tidewater Virginia during Prohibition. Books such as these were supplied by the Treasury Department as part of the National Prohibition Act. Scope and Contents This collection contains correspondence, newsclippings, research notes, and other material related to the attempt to classify the Peacock Hill neighborhood of Williamsburg, Virginia a historic landmark. Also included are maps of the neighborhood as well as a copy of the signed petition for Colonial Williamsburg to build townhomes that compliment, not replace, the homes in the Peacock Hill neighborhood. Most of the material is from 1982.

Peninsula Bank was also known as Peninsula Bank and Trust, then later became Crestar Bank and Crestar became SunTrust Bank.

Mss. Acc. 1994.92 has been added to this collection.  Two newspaper articles, undated, on the history of the Peninsula Bank.
