Some cousins visited them and it was pleasant to see people from the "old Dominion" again. From the way they talked, their politics would lead them to make a pilgrimage to the Hermitage [Andrew Jackson's home]. His son, Norborne, is leaving his wife and child and heading back to Philadelphia where he hopes to graduate.

The agreement was that McCandlish would pay Galt for his services since Daniel had bought the slaves in good faith.
