This collection includes original material about the launching of the S. S. William & Mary Victory, data about which ports the ship visited and when, the February 25, 1946 issue of "Victory News," a postcard sent by the ship's former Captain, and accounts given by W&M-related individuals who witnessed the launch.

Scope and Contents From the Collection:

The collection includes a dinner menu from a Flat Hat banquet on May 30, 1933. (Issue Vol. XXII, No. 28. It also includes several photographs of groups of men. Velz was a member of Phi Kappa Tau, Alpha Kappa Psi, and Pi Delta Epislon. There is also a photograph from a W&M event, probably Commencement.

Content Description From the Collection: Two page letter from William & Mary student, Robert Michie, informing his cousin, David Watson, of the activities of the school, students, and faculty. Michie mentions the selling of Hornsby house in an eggnog fit and in sending Blue (Tom) and Lemon (enslaved persons) with notes to Tucker (St. George) regarding the legality of this transaction but his inability to immediately attend to the issue has caused them to travel to his residence to inquire about the issue.
