Three pages from the Johns Family Bible beginning with the Marriage Certification for John Johns, Jr. of Baltimore, Maryland and Mary M. McGuire of Essex County, Virginia in 1861 and ending with birth of Arthur Johns in New York in 1936.

The document displays correspondence between Simon Bolivar Buckner, Head Quarters at Fort Donelson, Tennessee, and Brig. Gen. Ulysses Simpson Grant, Commanding U.S. Forces, near Fort Donelson, Tennessee. Buckner suggests an armistice in order to appoint a commissioner to agree upon terms of capitulation. Grant states that no terms except unconditional and immediate surrender will be accepted; and that he intends to move upon his works immediately. Facsimile.

Collection of legal papers chiefly of Wythe and Warwick counties, Virginia. Includes papers of George Blow, Jr.; letters, 1842-1853, concerning the legal practice of Peter F. Schlecker; resolutions, 1860 July 28, passed by the Board of Trade of Norfolk, Virginia; and deed, 1831, to land in Wythe County, Virginia from Joseph F. White to Elisha D. Payne. Some legal documents concern grain mills.

The Richard E. Norman film production collection contains film promotional flyers and brochures produced by Richard E. Norman through Norman Studios from 1919- 1940. Norman became a widely recognized film maker who produced "race" films. These were films that contained all African American casts and targeted an African American audience. Posters include those for films The Crimson Skull (1922) by Richard Edward Norman and The Flying Ace (1926) by Lawrence Criner.
