Scope and Contents

Artifacts originally created to be placed in or around a building for the convenience of people to enhance, complement, or facilitate the maintenance of their environment. This classification includes: small furnishings, such as card receivers; non-furniture artifacts used for storage and display, such as boxes; and objects that protect furniture such as antimacassars. This classification does not include furnishings intended primarily to communicate; they are classified as Art. Nor does this classification include devices used in productive housekeeping activity such as cooking or maintenance. Curtains are included in Window and Door Coverings.

Collection is open to all researchers.
