Broadside, "A Card from the Engineer of The E.L. Asylum" by Galba Vaiden, late engineer of the Eastern Lunatic Asylum, about favoritism in firing and hiring employees. Possibly 1890.

Small notebook, belonging to an Armistead Family member, which includes names of a circa 1910 football team following family account information from 1901. Handwriting is different.

Eastern Lunatic Asylum (Williamsburg, Va.) Letters

Scope and Contents

Two letters to Dr. Galt, Superintendent of the Williamsburg Eastern Lunatic Asylum dated September 12, 1854 and November 27, 1854.  The first letter is an inquiry from the North Branch Supervisor of the city of Petersburg.  He is asking if there are any beds available in the white female department of the hospital.  The second letter is from a William Thompson inquiring about vacancy for a person in his custody because of a status of full capacity at the Western Lunatic Asylum.
